Is a negative comment regarding a sponsor not allowed?

what's your "policy" on changing what someone posted without informing them?
essentially putting words in my mouth without acknowledging that it wasn't actually my post, seems to go a bit beyond the pale. Is it your policy to do this?
if it takes a little fiddling with your words to preserve the essence of what you posted, we view that as probably a worthwhile task more often than not.
No, no, no. This is flat-out wrong. You can NEVER alter someone else's words without either permission or attribution. Period. (Editing, per se, is not the issue.)

@Sig, we take it on a case by case basis. The bottom line is that whenever possible, we try to preserve your post when it's in response to another post that got deleted instead of just outright deleting what you submitted since you did put time and effort into it. So if it takes a little fiddling with your words to preserve the essence of what you posted, we view that as probably a worthwhile task more often than not.

Could you add a note at the bottom:" post edited by _______"

it would increase the intregity of the content. Like journalists who update a story

Sometimes they do that...sometimes they don't. I guess it depends on the moderator doing the editing.

Thus, maybe Baron needs to setup some kind'uv of auto setting for moderators that shows the name of the moderator that did the editing...

"Moderator edit @ 1216hrs"

We already have that function in place. In fact, we even have a version control for every post so we can see exactly what was edited from the original post, and who made that edit (original poster, moderator, etc.). It's just not a publicly accessible feature for all to see.

By fiddling with words, I just meant that in certain cases we may need to remove any references to a specific post or user, since that user's post may no longer exist. We have no interest in re-writing your post or changing it's meaning in any way. End of story.

Thanks Baron for the info.

I think making some of that information publicly available would be valuable.
