I think that cryptocurrencies already have made themselves a solid place in the realm of financial transactions, securing data, fundraising, DAO's and other structures.
I would not want to comment on the future prices of cryptocurrencies, they can go up or down not because more or less people realize their value, but because of the exogenous shocks and external forces. Another government could embark on a clampdown, could ban, arrest a few key guys in the industry that act as beacons of hope, an exchange or a hedge fund can get wiped down, we cannot foresee these things. But wherever the prices will be in the coming days or years, I think crypto will survive and be used as means of exchange.
Can't say the same about being a storage of value though.
