I smoked my first cigarette when I was 13. The dumbest thing I've ever done in my life. But in the 1950's everybody smoked. Anyway, I smoked for 27 years, going through 3 packs a day for the last few years before I quit. I had tried to quit 1000 times before I heard at the age of 39 that if you quit by 40, your body still has the ability to recover to near that of someone who has never smoked. So on my 40th birthday I succeeded in quitting. The smartest thing I've ever done!
Now, during my smoking days I would wake up with a headache at least twice a week that required taking Bufferin a few times throughout the day. And once every two weeks I would get the Mother of All Headaches which all the Bufferin in the world couldn't suppress. I was miserably all the way to bedtime.
However, from the very day I quit smoking, and until today, almost 32 years later, I have not had even one single headache!! Not one! True , there are people who have never smoked who get headaches. But I just hope my experience helps some smokers to consider the benefits of quitting, be it headaches or whatever.
