I don't disagree with that at all, but that isn't how the game is sold, or set up these days. The reality is though that Rogers in this case is sold as the guy who will come through in the clutch and is paid accordingly, but in reality he has a history of failing in the clutch. As a fan of the Packers, and believe it or not I do love watching Rogers when he is on, I can testify that he has easily blown as many games as he gets credited for being the savior of during his career. He was 3 and out again when it counted in this game, and missed a wide open Lazard when he went for the big play with Adams.
Garafalo's rating, and the number of points the 49ers put up for again puts up the question of where was Rogers? He couldn't lead them to at least one more TD? He is the guy that does that all the time, at least that is what we are supposed to believe. Maybe he is above average during the regular season, but playoff time, nope. Have to get there, but one and done after really isn't that impressive.

As much as he can be aggravating, I want him back if he doesn't retire. I can say as fun as Favre was to watch I was ok with him going away, and to top it off watching him kill the Vikings in the championship game was very worthwhile.
 
He is not going to stay. My understanding is that he always wanted getting paid top, as compared to Brady who took less for helping out the team to build offense around him.

So the word on the street is that he isn't staying unless they pay him 30 MM, but the Packers are already over the cap by 50, I think. Now it might not be the Steelers who get him (and 30 MM would be a stretch, when we may get lucky with the draft for 1/6th of that) he would like to go to the 49ers.

Or maybe he does a Brady and will go to the team even for cheap who gives him the best chance for another SB run.

How many quarterbacks in the last 17 years or so have more than one Super Bowl win? Is that what you are talking about with your last sentence?
 
If I can add, which is questionable going down lists, 4 have more than one. Brady =5, Mannings 2 each, Roethlisberger(had to copy paste that one) 2. Out of the last 17, 11 come from a QB that has more than one win. Over the course of 55, I think it is 21 solo Superbowl wins.
I do get it is a team sport, I appreciate how good Rogers is statistically, I just don't see him as a the guy who wins big games regularly when it counts on his own. That is how he is sold, and I have said from early on in his career that I don't think he has that gift, instinct, or whatever it is.
The 3 and out in this game where he missed a wide open Lazard going for the big play to his favorite Adams in double coverage is an example. Last year he could have run a ball in, but instead chose a pass across his body that had to go low to the reciever on the end zone line, and he missed. The run was the better option, but not as flashy as an across the body pass on the run.
I don't want him to go, but he needs to get his focus 100% to football, like he claims he does, but I believe is busy working on his celebrity and making statements. I don't say that because I disagree with his vac decision, that is his and everyone elses call, but it is one more thing that he has taken on and is a distraction to his football focus.
