How to make the perfect Montreal bagel: 100 years of wisdom from Fairmount Bagel

The best bagels anywhere! Although the St-Viateur Bagel Shop in Montreal is right up there as well, but with a shorter history.

I've lived in Toronto and went to bakeries that promised Montreal-style bagels, and they weren't even close. I've been to New York. Not even close, at least not the places I've tried. But this historic 24/7 bakery makes bagels a fine dining experience.

You go there, buy a dozen, still warm.
You eat 2-3 right from the brown bag while driving back home.
You get home, stomach full of bagel, and car with sesame seeds all over the place...

Yeah, once in the car, the smell of the bagged bagels alone is unbelievable and irresistible. I see you know the score. :D

Since I mentioned St-Viateur in my opening post, I would be remiss to exclude it from consideration. It is also a 24/7 operation, in business since 1957.
