How did you "start" your trading?

I finished with college, but boy is that an expensive piece of paper. Good for a safety net, but that is about it.

I'd like to be able to have many multiple streams of income and stocks would be one of them.

I guess the question is how did you guys start your trading career?

Did you go to some seminar, research, had a mentor etc?

I'm asking mainly because I'm not sure where to start. Any advice would help! I'm obviously one of those hands on type of guys. I'm willing to take the risk of the stock market also :-)
 
Not to discourage you, but that degree is no longer a safety net, its more of pre-req for advanced studies, like a an MBA, Phd or Masters.

Oh yeah I know, which is pretty sad.

Even with a "job" nothing can beat the potential of making pretty decent cash doing things like real estate, stocks.

I'm doing pretty well real estate wise, but I want to diverse myself.

Hence stocks. I guess it'd probably be a wise idea to figure out what part of stocks I want to focus on uh?

any advice would be appreciated! =)

READ about the different styles of trading and what you think fits you. For example, if you lack patience, maybe scalping or momentum trading would be for you, or if you wanted hold longer, look at swing trading ( the easiest for beginners) or trend trading.

Get a basic understanding of candle stick charts. That will help you in any form of trading, whether its stocks, forex, futures.
