Check out the speedy trading server link birdman posted. I just trade the 6E contract and have a Chicago based server (Speedy also has them in the NYC area). Since I am a discretionary trader I wouldn't have one at all if my internet was "rock solid" and low latency but it isn't. It is also nice to have the ability to log into the trading software from anywhere.
Hotspot for RV? Also how much data will streaming quotes eat?

Your situation is very similar to my own. I began this thread in reference to RVs as i thought more people could relate to that over the actual circumstance. I work from my country home office on what's called extended dsl and it's really slow. Which i can live with but i recently had a detached office built about 150 feet behind the house and the wifi don't quite reach. Must be something about the walls, i can carry a laptop another 150 feet beyond that and work, but when i go inside, no good. Now's a good time to upgrade to something like you describe - glad you spoke up

If your power at the detached office is connected to the house you could use the electric lines to move the internet out to the office. See the link above. It would save you some cash.
Did anyone have any luck doing this? I've been searching around and the one thing I can't do without is a decent WiFi signal. I can't get away from the desk if I can't tell work I'll be online.
I was looking at something like this http://wifirepeaters.net/outdoor-wifi-repeater/ and mounting it on the top or something? There are some pretty cool antennas people have built but I'm not sure my little laptop would have the power to get any use of a big antenna.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated nothing I've tried so far works.

I stream TOS nearly 24 hours a day every trading day of the week on an iPhone and have never used over 5gb of data.

Why not just bury a 200' cat 5 in plastic conduit from the house router to the new office ?
Of course video streaming use a ton of your bandwidth really. You shouldn't really check anything done to it there with any help of any user. Use that mobile only for some immediate business needs. For all else there is "desktop" internet done for.
For those who may read these thoughts on "hotspots". I've now been using a Verizon hotspot in my detached home office for over 2 years.
Most intresting item of note is ... if you should have difficulty ... say, hearing conversations on a cell phone, and go outdoors for better clarity ... as i did.
I recently drilled a hole in the wall and put the tethered hotspot on the outside of the office in a sandwich bag to keep rain off of it. Speed test shows increased speed of 2 xs at the worst to 6 xs at the best, as compared with the same hotspot indoors. Six times faster on some test.
I tested above roofline and various locations. Optimum was about a foot higher than computer, halfway up office wall.
