Historical Monthly Data for large sample

of stocks, say 1k to 2k tickers. Would only need monthly close prices for last 10 years. Is anyone out there providing this sort of thing for an affordable price? Thanks

Thanks Bethany (and GlobalMacro above). You mean one can download historical data for thousands of stock tickers at once on that site? You probably meant downloading data for one ticker at a time.
 
Just a side note. For the 10 years of data, one may not able to get those delisted stocks. As for Yahoo Finance data, it's a pain to download now as they encrypt the URL with cookie & crumb but not impossible. Another free source is Nasdaq.com where is URL is simple and you can use any script to download.

Yes, you can download it easily. I have done this multiple times. But you have to download individually for each stock.
 
There are several of sites that provide historical end of day data.
- Quandl - Recommended
- Kibot ( Hard to use APIs )
- Yahoo / Investing.com ( Scraping, I don't recommend )
- Polygon.io ( More focused on real-time )

Don't forget that when a dividend or split happens, this causes all the historical prices for this stock to change to be "adjusted" which will require it to be sync'd again. Just something to keep in mind, as sometimes you'll start to notice prices not matching yahoo/google anymore ;)
