I also began my trading endeavor trying to pick tops and bottom (hero complex???). And learned quickly that there must be a catalyst for that trade. i.e MA cross, engulfing candle or a news event that negates the rise/drop. Anything at all except "Gee whiz...this is stock dropped/ran really fast and hard. Blew myself up the first time around doing just that.
