Good areas in Manchester?

Never lived in Manchester and always had the (possibly false) impression that it is a rough place.

Which areas are good for living? I have heard Altrincham, Chorlton, Didsbury. Urmstom also seems fine, how about the area around 260 Stretford Road? Is it still Urmstom or basically some other place?

Looks pretty dodgy to me. It looks like people are driving on the wrong side of the road. Maybe some sort of mass psychosis going on.

You planning to move to Manchester? Altrincham is great if you want to live in an upmarket area but I have heard that buying houses there is quite expensive.
