What does the embedded virus do? How do you know if you had the virus if the antivirus did not pick up?

i know because a big red mcafee sign pops up and says,"you have files that have been infected by the xxxxxxx virus and it even mentions the ET thread I was on and then says the files have been deleted and cleaned and to please scan your disk for more viruses and everytime i would re scan. and again, since I haven't opened any ET emails, I haven't had one virus.

you know you can disable the email notifications from ET, just go to your account and then edit options.
