Skinner in the 1950s, described a variable schedule of rewards, also referred to as “intermittent reinforcement.”
Skinner observed that lab mice responded most voraciously to random rewards. The mice would press a lever and sometimes they'd get a small treat, other times a large treat, and other times nothing at all. This unfortunately creates greater loyalty than consistency.
Some days you get a treat...some days something evil does...
Without a general state of disorder, a narcissist can't control others as easily. With very good order they have almost no control at all.
