Globalization has been with "us" long before there was a Silk Road.

That's colonization. That's not the same as globalization. And Silk Road is not globalization either, that's international trade.

Whatever, I see no difference trade = globalization. Long before there also was an Adam Smith the invisible hand has been working to fulfill needs wherever goods/services were available. Marco Polo brought from the Far East pasta (noodles) to Italy. Italy brought it to the rest of the world. And on and on. Best price/quality/availability combo wins - wherever.
