E-bikes are heavily regulated in Singapore due to battery quality standards and lack of clarity as to their place in the urban environment, streets or sidewalks. In general Singaporeans and government are not keen to see ebikes and bikes in general develop and it's not particularly safe to ride here. Cyclists protect themselves by grouping and drivers get upset not being able to pass. In cases of accidents, police usually sides with car drivers.

e-bike seems like a good solution for Singaporeans? They are cheap and in the US, can go up to 30 kmh.

They're used mostly by the food delivery businesses when within a mile radius or so and everything else is delivered by moto scooters. E-bikes would be perfect here where the temp is in the mid 80's all year with 80+% humidity. They would need to set aside corridors for safety from cars. Lots of old drivers who aren't fully aware of their surroundings...
