Does a VPS really help slippage when scalping futures?

Yes correct
I’m a scalper myself looking for a way to reduce slippage.
My strategy is profitable but hit and miss due to slippage.
Even a little reduction would reap benefits.
What's your current latency to the Chicago area? Perhaps you could improve it with a different internet provider? Just a thought.

No
I have the best internet possible, and a router .
No shared signal.

I was referring to your office or home internet provider. While you may use generictrade you still have to connect to their servers from your location. Can you improve the latency between your workstation and generictrade?

The slippage depends on the strategy you use. 99% of the algos out there will still have the same results regardless if you have a VPS or not....the main question is what type of slippage you experiencing and if it is really a slippage or just the mechanics of the market/first come, first serve...what specific market?

Yes
As does TradeStation and Ninja

Slippage could depend on your size, frequency, instrument, and your proximity to that data center.

Personally I dont think a VPS will help but might be worth exploring, especially a free trial.

If you can share some examples of slippage with what the order was doing, time placed, fill time and fill price I can shade more light.
