Dell has now officially launched their new 30" monitor...

I agree. I have a 30" Apple and it's beautiful, but overkill. I find I prefer two 20" LCDs for trading applications.

a bit of fuzzy math there

19inch screen res is 1280x1024

1280 x 1024 x 2 is less than 2560 x 1600

20inch screen res is 1600x 1200. and 2 20inch lcd has less screen resolution than this 30inch monster.

1600 x 1200 x 2 is less than 2560 x 1600

however. 4 x 17inch lcd setup has larger screen res than the 30inch dell

1280 x 1024 x 4 is about 20% larger than 2560 x 1600

Yes, 2K for 1 monitor? I prefer 2 19 inches, 2 very good ones cost less than half of that and you have more real state.

I see what you mean, well I still go with my 2 x 19 inches for $800 or less, I even do not use the 1280 x 1024, I use 1024 x 768 on each one because of my eyes.

1024 x 768 reduces the quality of image on native 1280 x 1024 LCD. the image itself is probably worst at your settings.

if you need larger fonts, you can change that by going to "display properties" -> "settings" tab -> click "advanced" and change DPI settings to large or some custom setting.

What on God's green earth would you need a monitor anywhere near that size? I'm all about making money trading, not worried about how big or pretty my monitors are. I have two 17 inch monitors and they work just fine.

You might want to check the accuracy of that fuzzy math calculater that you are using.

Mine says that 2x1280x1024 > 2560x1600
and that 2x1600x1200 > 2560x1600

Let me guess, you were educated in American public schools? :(

I will break it down for you:

"Mine says that 2x1280x1024 > 2560x1600"
2x1280=2560, thus on the left side we have the same amount above, and on the right side 1024 is obviously LESS than 1600

You are welcome...

Me too riskarb.
I was happy to be able to replace my old 21" CRT's with 20" LCD's and free badly needed space in my working area.
Putting in 30" displays would make things unwieldy again.

nononsense
