Would you use Dark mode?

  • Yes, save my eyes!

  • Nah, not necessary

  • Never tried it, why would I want it?

Why do you want a forum to be in dark mode?? :wtf: It would be so difficult to see if somebody posts a dark mode chart or screenshot from their platform (like the one that's used by yours truly :)). Everything would be blend in.

You must be old.

I am old too. I cannot tolerate dark mode.

In my platform, I actually use the dark mode. It's cool. It allows me to see the charts and everything well with white font that stand out against a dark background but not for a website, a forum where we need to upload screenshots in dark mode to a forum in dark mode.

Once you use dark mode for a while and see a blank page you realize how much light the screen throws at you. Seeing blank pages is literally like staring at a lantern. Do that for years and lose your sight quickly. We spend too much time in front of the screen nowadays. The lest light you consume, the better.

Eat more carrots.

Yes. There will be a dark mode soon. I'm a fan of it myself.
Using chrome extensions like Dark Reader is the easiest, since you can easily toggle on and off. It also works on local files like PDF and ePub.

But dark mode is available natively in all Chromium browsers.

Chrome:
1. Type "chrome://flags" (without the quotes) is the address bar
2. Type "dark mode" in the search box
3. Select "enable

Edge:
Same as above but type "edge://flags" instead and then repeat 2 and 3.

The caveat is, unlike the extension, it's pain in the ass manually turn it on and off.

The development work for our next major upgrade has been completed. Dark mode is a part of that upgrade. From now until September 21st, I will be working on transitioning the site over to the new platform. This is not a trivial upgrade, so things are probably going to get a little messy around here at various times between now and then.

I do not mind sloppy seconds, especially if it is the one on the right. Humma humma!
