I'm preparing to begin trading on a full-time basis from my residence in the U.S. I am a Canadian citizen and I am currently on an H1-B visa with a job in the financial industry. When I leave this job I will transition to an L-2 visa (for the spouse of an L-1 holder) as my wife is also a Canadian citizen employed in the U.S. Under this visa, I know I would be eligible to work, but I am uncertain whether I am eligible to act as a sole proprietor for trading purposes.
If anyone has any insight to this or is a Canadian trading from the U.S. I would love to hear about your situation.
