Hi leorc,
There are 3 different platforms and spreads with FXCM. The tightest spreads are on the Active Trader platform. There's no mark-up on the spread and you pay a commission based on your trading volume.

The micro account has tighter spreads than the standard account for the reason that it is our discount brokerage. There's no phone or chat support so that the cost savings can be passed along in the form of tighter spreads. Micro spreads are about a pip tighter than the regulard standard account spreads.
The standard 10k account has the regular retail spreads.
