Best exchange and Wallet

I am looking for recommendation on a good exchange to use and wallet to store coins. My biggest criteria are ease of use and security of my assets.

OK. So I buy a crypto. Then store in a wallet. How safe are my coins? I know exchanges have been hacked but what about wallets? I hear these horror stories about Investors losing their coins. Can someone please explain

Then why be involved in the asset at all ?
