I'm running 2 CRG9s stacked with the Peerless stand but the setup hasn't 100% won me over. The stand ruined the aesthetics for me as I have a free standing desk and the stacked monitors don't look as cool anymore. I'm wondering if I can do better with a single giant monitor setup with the same amount of desktop real estate, 4k resolution, and high refresh rate for the same amount of money (~$2k)? Thanks.

I never cared for monitor stands/stacks. For charts I have 3x 27" UHD monitor array in portrait mode standing side-by-side on a 30x72 table.
As to "single giant monitor"... I'm assuming you mean, "TV as monitor". If so you'd get only 3840x2160 resolution regardless of the TV's size. That is, you won't be able to display "more", but what you can display will be bigger. (3x UHD monitor array has 6480x3840 resolution. No specific reason to stop at 3 monitors... you could easily have 4-8 with proper video cards.)
If you've got the space, you could have 2x, UHD "TVs as monitor" in 43" or 50" for <$1K.
