I'll give it a shot. Don't expect lot of volume which could increase volatility. Could be fun. Believe today is last day to trade to have settlement in 2006 - could see some selling to lock profits as well as losses to reduce 2006 tax bill. Don't plan to keep anything overnight until next week.

If you sell on Dec 31st, don't you mark the trade as done for tax purposes even if it settles later?

That is correct, sale is based on "Trade Date".

***Watch out for wash sales.
 
do any traders here who trade a specific stock or ETF not trade the same stock in 30 days if you end up selling for a loss? Or does that not matter to you

40-50% lower volume, good opening (yea)...now we have excellent Pairs trades. With low volume, the pairs tend to skew a bit more, intraday. Money for those who make it to work.
