That really depends on the time frame you trade.
If you are seriously scalping, latency is a real enemy because you are always trying to grab liquidity that was there XXms ago.
If you are trading a 15m or larger time frame you can make do with even satellite latency without a large effect.
My buddy has fiber to his house in Denver and he pings Tal at 20ms. My sister in San Jose has microwave and she pings Tal at 260. I have cable here in San Diego and ping at 60. None of us sense an advantage over the other for the time frame we trade.
