I didn't dwell on it either, past tense. Then the wheels started coming off. I can tell you, at least for me, the change between 60 to 65 was more than a little disconcerting. It's not like going from say 50-55. It's more like a change experienced from 25-45. Now pushing forward towards the 70 mark it's a holy fuck, what is 70 going to be like? While in better shape than most men my age it's still a pissing against the wind fight, and the wind ain't letting up. Everyone looks at the spry 85 year old and thinks that'll be me. That guy is the exception and being that exception has more to do with genetics than balanced diet and exercise. Yes, I'll fight the good fight as long as I can, but I'd be lying if I said there aren't any, what's the point days I must grind through. Getting old ain't for sissies.I don't really dwell on age-related health issues since, thus far, I don't really have any. I only have 2 joint issues, both of which occurred outside of the gym, and one of which is almost resolved. Apart from that, stuff like having to eat earlier to get a better night's sleep I just chalk up to "the way it is." I don't really bitch about it; I just adapt. Much like no longer being able to eat eggs, which is not age-related. I'll be 60 later this summer (60!) and I don't feel it. Thankfully, everyone tells me I don't look it. (For now, I don't have to pay them to say that.)
Perhaps when the real old-timer's health stuff starts cropping up, I'll join the woe-is-me brigade.![]()
