I used to be a member of a national shareholder group. They issued a monthly newsletter and ran occasional educational events. What was interesting was the invitations we used to request to visit listed companies and get to meet directors and sometimes CEO's. These were educational, both regarding the individual company but also regarding corporate strategy generally.
Virtually every company in my region that invited us in experienced a share price rise after our visit date - NOT because we became huge investors but because they had good reasons to be bullish about their prospects: no company in decline is going to invite in a bunch of experienced and astute private investors who are likely to be feeding their findings back to the national network. Maybe there's something like that in your area?
