Advise me on computer memory

My Dell Inspirion 3847 desktop started showing a message ... Saying my computer is low on memory and asking me to close TOS. Sometimes TOS crashes.

So i upgraded RAM from 8GB to 16GB but i still get the error message and TOS has crashed once since upgrade. I only run TOS and one additional tab. Please advise.
I had my memory crashing my computer before and it turned out to be the hardware. I had upgraded with a memory stick over and above the memory stick already slotted. The 2 sticks didn't play well together. Ended up taking the other memory stick back and then going to Crucial.com who guarantees compatibility and offers an assortment of upgrades. Also let's you buy from their Amazon outlet which is easier for me. Upgraded with a different stick from the original OED stick and it was completely compatible. Never had an issue since. Currently running with the original OED 8 GB stick and the crucial 16GB stick. 2 different sizes and brands, but both compatible.

Ill spend some time looking in to this again, i have always liked Linux.

I do need 4 monitors so that might be an issue, but no way to know without trying :D.

What's good with linux? What's the difference between linux and windows?

Keep in mind that you will need a funny Java version to run TOS on Linux. You'll find it. TOS runs here flawlessly on Debian and derivatives. That link above for non-free plus firmware Debian is what you need. Good luck.

(just don't trust TOS for actual trading, they are in "transition" now)

Installed the latest version of Ubuntu next to Windows 10 to try it out again since it has been some years since i last used it.

To my surprise the latest version of Ubuntu worked with my 4 monitors right from installation, didn't have to change anything.
