Well, at least you're honest about what it is in the thread title.
Martingales feel good for a while then you lose all your money (or maybe if it's an "advanced one", a major loss that eradicates profits anyway). You're not gaining any edge by unconditionally averaging down, just shuffling around risk.

Martingales are based on the theory that eventually a trend that is against you will reverse and your system will be able to recover loses. That is a false premise against the general market behavior. Trends do reverse but on major events that happen on specific situations. A trend is likely to continue as there are too many trend followers that will push the price further, following that trend.
"Advanced" martingales are just variations of the fact that every trade is supposed to increase in size aiming to recover previous loses. Those advanced techniques try to define that next size that magically will give you a profit.
