A Trading Edge at a Proprietary Firm?

I'm getting set to retire after a 20 year career in public education, and would really like to get hooked up with one of these trading firms. Somewhere in the northwest if possible. But location isn't a critical issue. How does one go about approching them. What qualifications does one need? Is it necessary to have taken the series 7 exam before signing up?

You can't take the series 7 without being "sponsored" by one of these firms, so you will need to sign up first and they will walk you through the process.
My best advice is to call them all. Then you can hear firsthand which ones have the best deal and you will probably get a taste of how their customer service is.

I don't know of anyone who has done that.
I make on average $30K a month trading professionally, I honestly don't know if I could make anything if you took away my bullets, leverage, and .80 cents per share rate.
But for all the prof. guys, let us know if you know of anyone who has gone non-pro from pro.

know quite a few traders who have enjoyed going sophisticated retail, and given up the prestige of going into an office and dealing with the environs....
some trading books boldly go where no trader has gone before and claim that they're so successful that they have huge accounts, and are able to fund a decadent lifestyle, in all places, Arkansas or Tenessee or West End Texas.... (humor - earning minimum wage in those areas is living high ...)
let's face it, with CyberX2 and other similar systems being made available to the retail public, without licenses required (series 7, etc.), then the advantages of holding swing trades, doing shorts on restricted or thin stocks and other things that professionals can not do, but retail customers can do, seems enticing.....
