3D Card + Multiple DVI trading Card

I need to build a new system, and the ideal thing would be to build two, one for gaming and one for trading.

Unfortunately, budget is limited and I will just build one.

I'm not just a trader but also an avid gamer, the video card that I own from Nvidia has 4 display ports but no 3D capabilities. Perhaps I can buy a 3D card for gaming, that's powered by Nvidia and use that plus the trading card and kill two birds with one stone, reducing the overall costs.

Anyone has experience with this ?

My intention is to mix an Nvidia GTX 780 + an NVS model, effectively having gaming and trading capabilities.

I've heard that if both cards are powered by the same chip brand, you are ok, but havent been able to obtain confirmation.

Will it work ?

Any caveats?

The GTX (GeForce) and NVS have different drivers. Nvidia would tell you not to mix them. However, I've seen people post that they use both on one of the drivers. You could try mixing them. Worst that would happen is that it wouldn't work and you might have to uninstall/reinstall a driver or two.

If you build a gaming rig, it will work for trading.

Yes, but unless I use two 3D cards (an expensive option), I won't be able to use 4 screens, plus I already own the NVS card.

yea, that's how I roll. gtx 760 and a nvs 295 with gtx drivers only. be aware the gtx 700's sip power at trading speeds with 2 displays, add a third display and the card will no longer go into a low power state and wattage increases from about the mid single digits to about 45 watts, at idle (trading speed). maybe, depending on whom you buy the card from and if they have tuning software you could work around that problem, mine doesn't. but the gtx 700's will do 4 displays.

It's good to know that you manage to get to work gtx 760 and nvs 295 using only gtx 760 drivers, nice tip.

I suppose a high performance power supply is in order, 800-1000?

You won't need an especially large PSU... whatever is adequate for your GTX will suffice. The NVS card will use only 10W or less at trading speed.
