Please don't buy an LCD monitor less than 17". The 17" do not cost that much more (bottom of the line is just under $200 at PriceScan.com) and I guarantee you that you will regret buying anything smaller. Really I wouldnt go less than 19" at this point because the prices have dropped so much (under $300) but if money is tight then the 17" will do but buying a 14" screen is just throwing money away. My 2 cents...

I have a quad setup... I have 2 Matrox G450 cards, one is AGP one is PCI. Before, I had just the one AGP card, and I attempted to get a Radeon that I had in the closet to work. It gave me so many problems, and XP crashed every 3 days or so.

I went to CDW, bought a G450 dualhead PCI card, got the new Matrox software, and I have not had a problem since, and that's been about a year now.

I forget the name of the Matrox software, but they do have software that will ease the pain of configuring 2 dual cards.

going off the subject a bit.. - there are a good number of posts here about mult-monitor setups but not many on the newer 42+ displays - the costs seem to be nearing parity, i.e. per square inch of "screen real estate" - what are the negatives with these bigger screens vs multi-monitor (on the positive side, i count at least no need to deal with graphics cards etc.).

pixel count.....

have you noticed that the text characters will be sufficiently larger than equivalent 17", 19", 21" monitors?

they still boast the limited 1280x1024 or some other disappointing pixel count...

Ok guys let me jump in please.

I have a custom built I want to expand from dual to quad.

Current card is a Redeon 8500 128mb

Can I just buy another dual card and instal it to expand to quad is it that easy?

Also

When I boot this machine up it always sounds like a train (grinding noise) for the first 2 minutes or so any opinions?

Runs great through!
