One problem with labeling "things" in term as Conservative or Liberal... is (1) they are not "oil and water", and (2) the definitions have morphed back and forth over the years... at times standing for the opposite for what they did before.
My favorite definition of "Conservative" is one who is conservative about spending other people's money... while, of course, a "Liberal" is one who spends other peoples money willingly, easily, and excessively.
