Could be. Such a paradigm shift will have myriad consequences that need to be studied. I'd hope some anthropologist would make a time movie from the announcement to the impact on the application process, the making of the student body, the graduation length and drop out rates, the choice of studies, etc.. to where these future medical doctors will work.
Since they will have no tuition to pay, will their future fees reflect that? The reason given by the medical body for their obscene fees is 1. Cost of studies and 2. Cost of malpractice insurance.
Will the new crop of doctors coming out of that school have a greater sense of duty to their community or will they simply become millionaires much sooner?
