    Advantage Futures

I've been with Advantage since this spring, and am pretty satisfied. It's not really for retail traders though - it's geared for professional traders with exchange memberships. I think I could have squeezed them more on commissions, but I came from trading with IB so I'm of course happy...

Quote for developing an Excel or OQ ATS with TT

Yes, it's basicly the same as pairs trading - but noone says pairs about futures trading (or options). Which futures doesn't really matter, as that is (should) be easy to change.

Quote for developing an Excel or OQ ATS with TT

I'm looking to automate a few profitable strategies I'm using, and thought I'd try to post here and see what happens.. I'm open as to which platform to use, as long as it's not full-blown institutional cost. My order entry is X-Trader Pro, so the broker connection will be their API. Looking...

    Automated Chart Pattern Recognition

I think VisualTrader and OmniTrader shares the same pattern recognition module, only that it's an addon to OT.

    Automated Chart Pattern Recognition

I'm looking around for Chart Pattern Recognition Software that can be automated to create and export a report (preferably with charts) every day after going over EOD-data. Nirvana's OmniTrader has a Chart Pattern module that looks good - they've backtested chart patterns and ranked...

Comparison of low latency feeds and execution for Eurex futures

My apologies, it was the Enhanced Transaction Solution (ETS-feed) from April 14th 2008 I intended to refer to - and the latency improvements I mentioned was indicated to me by Eurex with regards to this particular connection. http://www.eurexchange.com/download/documents/circulars/cf2192007e.pdf

Comparison of low latency feeds and execution for Eurex futures

It would depend on your strategies, reduced risk of only one leg filled, being on the same field as hedge funds etc who might be running similar strategies and so on. 1) If you go for a proximity service you would have lower latency than through IB. If this matters for your strategies, that...

Comparison of low latency feeds and execution for Eurex futures

Sounds like a good idea to look closer into this, then. I guess it would be a tradeoff for you between how much more you'd think you'd be making. Remember that you would get some cost savings from lower broker fees vs IB if you were to go with the pro futures firms - offsetting increased cost of...

Comparison of low latency feeds and execution for Eurex futures

Yes, it's quite new so I'd imagine it would take some time for the various vendors to support it. Thank you for the information regarding RTS, that's interesting. Knowing TT it's probably scheduled for June 2009.

Comparison of low latency feeds and execution for Eurex futures

I am NOT talking from experience, but I have looked into a variety of solutions and also been in touch with Eurex a couple of times for research purposes. First of all, if you're on a budget you can just forget all about the advanced solutions and just stick with for instance IB. I'm pretty...

biggest prop/con job in market history

Guys, as crazy as it may sound I think the key to understanding the US equity markets / indices is to look at their value measured in other currencies, for instance you can use the dollar index. Theoretically, if the USD was to drop to 5 versus the Euro - entertain this thought for a moment -...

    Tips for router w/load balancing

In this case it's redundancy that's the question. I do agree that latency is important for trading, but when you're accessing servers that are co-located, I'm not too worried about my own latency.

    Russell vs S&P Midcap

I'd also be interested in a discussion of what's going to happen with the Russel2000 index future after it moves to ICE. I believe the September contract will be the last to trade on CME, and not June. The question is if there will be any volume at all on ICE - if they promote it with zero...

    Tips for router w/load balancing

I'm planning to buy a new router to load balance two ISP connections - one cable and one DSL. I can have the router near the cable modem, but my DSL modem is actually two floors away. I don't want to get phone co people in to mess with the line etc. So, I was thinking, what about using the...

OQO Ultra Mobile PC and CQG’s Integrated Client for Electronic Trading

I have an OQO model 02 and originally intended to use it on the go for trading/watching quotes. I'm not happy with it at all - it takes MINUTES to start up (Vista Ultimate), and compared to the stuff that Asus as out now it's already dated (I got it in August last year). My advise is to...

Haha, excellent point. When everyone is fading, what's the fade :)

    Signing a Personal Guarantee

Yes, that's right. I'm only trading intraday with no overnights, but still it's sometimes hard to imagine what can happen. I'm signing it, and will then try to revoke it in about six months when they're accustomed to my risk profile and account activity.

    Signing a Personal Guarantee

Guys, answers are much appreciated. I think I'm capable of evaluating the legal implications (which is why I'm uncomfortable in the first place). But do anyone of you know if this is to be expected from a clearing house/big FCM? I was hoping they'd have risk systems in place which would just...

    Signing a Personal Guarantee

I think I'll just have to go ahead and sign it, but it's kind of discomforting. I'll be doing arbitrage mainly, but it's thoughts like "what happens if only one side is filled and the exchange goes down in smokes" etc that I'm not very happy about. Anyway, thanks for your input.

    Signing a Personal Guarantee

I'm about to open an account with a pretty big futures clearer in Chicago, to trade on my own account. I'm doing the paperwork at the moment, and one of the things they've given me to sign is a Personal Guarantee which makes me assume any risk in case "anything" goes wrong. I'm doing a...
