A gentlemen I met here in Texas noted that the absence of income tax caused property taxes to be relatively higher than other states.
It's good for some, but tougher on the retired folks. I never took the time to verify his theory, but it seemed to make some sense.
A few years ago I switched from Qcharts to Sierra Charts with IB data feed.
I wish all my decisions had similar results :)
Much cheaper, much better, particularly with respect to lag and reliability.
I am surprised they are still in business.
Good luck.
This same question is something I remember struggling with years ago without resolution.
Unfortunately, I have been Tivo-ing old episodes of "Lost" and thought it may provide a real back to basics scenario to help get a different perspective.
Unlike the television program, the poor folks...
Seems to me that this is a bit like Enron only on a massive scale. Obviously the creators of these cdo's had the smarts to develop a "marketable" security, the dangers of which were missed by auditors, regulators and others in the industry.

I am not sure where to expand :)
Backup to the secondary hard drive is fast and easy.
The two machines are networked via a router, which also provides a hardware firewall. I view it as a must have.
I run two machines connected via a router. At least one has a second hard drive which works well for my back up requirements.
Backups of really critical data can be kept offsite in case of fire or theft.
Good luck.
Here's the way I usually go about it:
Unplug the data cable to the old hard drive.
Install Windows on the new hard drive and all the updates.
Plug the data cable back into the old hard drive.
Set the jumpers on the hard dirve so that the new is master and the old is slave...
I had cable for several years and like the speed. It would, however, stop for several seconds often several times per day.
My current DSL probably does not test out as fast, but does not seem slower. It been on 24/7 with no problems
