Are naked puts really this safe????

The problem with this - and I've lost 20k in one day because of this - is that your stops don't work after the bell. Stops offer some protection, but they don't make up for properly hedging your risk against extreme volatility.

Why the S&P 500 Should Be Strangled

exactly... summer months are always slower anyways. November will be much more volatile.

Goerge Soros callin the suicide hotline

It's misinformation like this that makes my head want to explode. The type of investing you do, time frame, profit goals, etc, all play a huge factor in deciding whether to use primarily fundamentals, techincals, or a mixture of both. I'd like to see you try swing trading options or day...

    How to Trade Bollinger Bands

I would agree with you that BB isn't as useful for day traders - but most people don't day trade, or at the very least diversify over time.

    How to Trade Bollinger Bands

I usually do all analysis on the underlying security before looking at the option itself. I do take into consideration the amount of contracts floating around, etc., but that isn't where my search begins. One cool thing about using volatility breakout is that you buy the option when the bands...

    How to Trade Bollinger Bands

one more note on bollinger bands... a technique he outlines in his book and one that I find very useful is using the bands to define relative highs and lows and looking for reversal patterns. For example, if a stock falls bellow a previous low but stays within that band, it usually means...

    How to Trade Bollinger Bands

Well, in his book "Bollinger on Bollinger Bands" he outlines three trading systems that are all pretty interesting and could work depending on your trading style. I use bollinger bands as part of a volatility breakout system for stock options, and it works pretty well... Just look for the...

"Why Technical Analysis is Nonsense"; Views?

uhhg... fundamentals try to asign a certian value to a security. technicals just focus on market emotion and price. both methods are completely subjective, because even with fundamentals, you're making an arbitrary guess on what you think the market will do. So, neither of them can be...

Recession is coming ? Take a hard look

it was a joke.. when gold goes up in value, it isusually due to an economic downturn because currency drops in value and people want to put their money in something that has intrinsic value. c'mon that's high school economics.

Recession is coming ? Take a hard look

If Ron could just get the nomination - polls show that Ron does well against Hillary. But what is it going to take for him to start winning? Is there still really a chance.. most people I know like him, but feel that voting for him would be a "wasted vote". nice..

    OptionVue vs ToS

aren't you comparing apples and oranges? ToS has commision fees.. OptionVue has a system cost and a data cost on top of commissions. Additionally, ToS let's you "pick your commissions"... I don't pay near that much for my trades.

    Jan 08 options watchlist.

mmm.. GOOG has done well for me this month: bought 20 JAN 640 Puts for 2.75 back when it was trading at 690 (Jan 2, I think) and sold about a week later at 15+ not a bad way to start off the new year

    newbie with some newbie questions

yeah, not to get off topic, but I recently checked out Option House (because of their rates) and ToS based on user opinion and open pricing structure. I took a look at ToS first and I guess that spoiled me - Option House was just gross, at best. Not intuitive at all (IMHO)

Well, I've been reading posts here for sometime and decided to post because I need some help..I'm young (21) and I want to get into day trading (eventually) but all I have to invest right now is about 300 dollars a week. For active trading I need at the very minimum $10-15K right? Would...
