To be more specific, If I place a market order to buy xyz thru the NYSE after the close; will I get the next days opening price or will the specialist give me what he feels like? Using my system, I only want the opening price, I don't care what it is. Thanks JJ

Brown & co has on opening orders, but not via the internet, you have to call them in. As most on my orders will be market orders, I was interested in how they will be handled when I place then after the close on the NYSE. Thanks jj

I have an account with Brown & Co. and they do not have NYSE on open orders. If I place a "buy" market order a half hour before the opening, will that be the same as a "market on opening order"? If I place a "sell" market order will I recieve the first upticked price? Thanks; JJ

You might check with TD Waterhouse! I understand that Bank certificates of deposit are paying 4.5 to 5% interest in Oz. There are also some Oz closed in bond funds available here in the USA. jj

This is an interesting thread, but has anybody tried to adjust their parameters with the day of the week? I have a swing trade system and i've noticed that there is a historical diference for each day of the week. Just something one might look into a bit. jj

I thought so. Thanks for the info. So all MOC orders have to be in by 3:40pm est unless there is an imbalance on the NYSE. jj

My broker, Brown and Co., said I must have my on opening orders in 20 min. before the opening to be sure of getting them exicuted. Is this true with IB and others. What time do any of you place these orders? Thanks; JJ

Riesgo, I did a study several years ago on predicting Volitility. I used percents of historic vo, imp vo and the vo over the last 10 days and compared them to the vo for the next 10 days. The best combination was 40% imp, 40% 10 day vo and 20% historic. Hope this helps. jj
