    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

Thanks for the explanation. I guess that's why I couldn't find "the" cash market, because there are several. Does a cash market exist for these bonds?

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

I haven't found it. Just in case, I want to be precise: I'm looking for information on the underlying for which the bund futures are the derivative. I'm not looking for information on the bund futures. Thanks

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

What is the cash market for the bund futures and what time does it trade? I've googled but haven't found much.

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

I wouldn't know about those days, I started 2007 and spent 2 years clueless & lost. ;) But trading bund now for 6 months and I love it. To each his own, everyone just has to find what works for them. I plan to increase from 2 to 3 contracts soon and hopefully stay on track.

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

Isn't this true of all markets? Is there a market that the algos aren't in?? Maybe these algos closed some opportunities and opened others.

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

Maybe what one sees as a problem is opportunity for someone else? My expectancy is 2 ticks and my equity curve is very smooth. I'm now working on increasing expectancy on my second target. Maybe I'm subconciously seeing these algos and trading with them. I don't really know. Just know...

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

I'm surprised so many people said the Bund was not good for trading. Maybe back in 2007 that was the case but I've been trading it for 6 months now and I've been doing well. I trade Bund in the European morning and ES in the US morning and my Bund performance is much better than my ES...

The evolution of my trading - Dumping the indicators & loving small losses

Hey I remember you too. That was a long time ago.. maybe 2 years? I was too blind/naif/dumb to realize just how right you were at the time. 2 years later I trade very much like you were 2 years ago (minus the bollinger bands hehe). Pretty funny really. Support & Resistance, that's what it's...

    Quiper emini journal

Everyone has their own feeling about simulator and I'd like to offer you mine. Being profitable can take several years. I don't see any reason why one has to lose real money during this time. If one can't trade profitably on simulator then there is no way they can trade profitably with real...

A couple bund trades. Nothing fantastic but if you want the details you can find them here.

The evolution of my trading - Dumping the indicators & loving small losses

After shorting 1207 and covering 1187 (a bit too early I must admit) I went long 1174 and just covered at 189.75. Probably early on the exit this time too but I'm not risking giving any back.

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

I really don't understand the question. Can you elaborate? I trade "by hand" because I react to what's happening. I try to dance with the market. If my trade doesn't move my way I get out. I trade off intuition and that's not possible to code. I had two nice swing trades lately. First...

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

That was part of my idea for the blog to discuss my trading. And in the process I realized what I was doing (with the cycles & timeframes) was all wrong. So many people have told me that their story is almost identical, so I think it's great to share. And will save newbies a lot of time &...

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

I totally agree on the first part there. Ninjatrader is very smart. It's free for simulator & backtesting. So once I thought I had an edge, I paid for it and started trading. Edge lasted a month and fell apart. But by then I had some variations of my system and those lasted a few weeks...

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

I can tell you from experience all systems fall apart because the markets change. Continuously. And your excellent backtest results will have you think it's just a drawdown until you find the biggest drawdown you've seen and then you pull the plug. Which is often about the time it starts...

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

Good question. The difference is subtle. Many backtest a system, optimize it to perfection, and then trade it. That's what I did. and it worked for a few weeks to a month and then fell apart. Many reasons for this: markets change, curve fitting, etc. Now I rarely do backtests. When I...

NinjaTrader vs OpenQuant for automated trading

That's what I was going to say. Backtesting can be useful to test out ideas and prototype, but that's about it. The read edge in trading is in context & trade management, both are difficult to program. Tradestation can use tick or 1minute data to peek inside the bar which is useful for...

The evolution of my trading - Dumping the indicators & loving small losses

Thanks for the compliments. The purpose of this thread is to discuss all this so I welcome any & all questions. The traders reading this thread & my blog are not my competition so sharing is good. :) Telling whether the market is balanced or imbalanced is very difficult and very advanced...

The evolution of my trading - Dumping the indicators & loving small losses

Hi Handle123, Thanks for sharing your experience. I find it very interesting. I think I agree with most of what your wrote except the last part - automation. I've never done well with that. Discretion is such a part of my trading that I often think it'd be impossible to be profitable...
