Well, I'm thinking that 300,000 shares a month is about what I might be doing ... I don't know if you've seen my other thread (IB cheap etc), but do you think on only 300,000 shares a month that some firm will give me better commissions than 1 cent for 500 and 1/2 cent for 500+?

So, IB is as cheap as it gets? .01 for the first 500 .005 for 500+ No ECN fees Everyone here agrees? I was hoping for better news than this, but hey, I'm an extremely cheap person to begin with!

So, what you're saying is, there aren't many firms who don't charge commissions but instead take a % of your payout? At the firms that do this, 50% would be considered a 'high payout?' Lastly, how many shares do you have to be doing a day for a firm to consider you?

What is the going 'average' payout when no commissions are paid? 50%? Or is that on the high end ...

I'm going to top this and see if anyone else has comments as to where commissions (after all is said and done) are cheapest, without sacrificing the reliability/executions that I get with IB, of course...

Not that I should be or want to be using 4 to 1 margin, but it's interesting that TWS only lets me place orders using no greater than 3.301 to 1 margin. (It's been this way ever since I could remember) Why is this?

Tradestation does in fact charge full exchange fees, even if you sign up at 11.59 PM on the last day of the month.

The Fed has come in to support the dollar twice in the last week, causing a short-squeeze in the equity markets. This sort of intervention (and other intervention that's not as obvious) must be killing the shorts (for example, Todd/minyanville went short this morning, only to get squeezed out...

Interesting that only 50% think the Nasdaq moves higher in the next 11 weeks.

Do many people think tommorow's employment number holds the key to whether the market has made its high for the year?

Back when there were very frequent mergers etc, it was my general observation that in an all stock deal, the acquired stock would trade at a 10% discount to the actual buy-out 'price.' In an all cash deal, the acquired stock would trade within 3% of the price offered. Just my observation...
