    How much out of sample testing is enough?

    Agreed, but 30 out-of-sample trades per degree of freedom is a good start. --laz

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Umm. Regardless of the platonic epistomological issues, that short-from-the-open traverse was in trouble by the end of the 9:45 bar. Both ES and YM volume scream for attention, and then the ftt and ym bo seal the deal. It might be shadows on a cave wall, but it's still there. regards, laz

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Looked pretty straightforward to me.. 1st traverse long-> pt 1-> 2nd traverse short-> pt2 -> 3rd traverse ->pt3 -> traverse-> ftt ->lateral?-> long traverse (we're still in it). --laz

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Mak, you've done a great job and I hope you continue. Don't let the pm's get you down. Your progress has caused me to rethink a lot of what I thought I knew, and all for the better. ---- chart: I have us 'riding the top of R' yesterday, ftt'ing twice on the wide CO, and busting...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    here's what I see.. notice the b2b on ym as macd converges. I think we cycle along here through lunch; things won't get interesting until we hit the traverse line from pt3 of the shallower short channel. edit 13:07. oh well, that's what I get for prognosticating.. --laz

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    I replied to hypo because I thought my answers might add value to the thread. If not, no sweat. 3 items before I retreat to lurkdom and random chart posting: 1. hypo: the chart Jack annotated a couple of days ago leads me to believe that FTT is grossly misunderstood (at least by myself)...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    This is like the question, "When did you stop beating your wife?". The appropriate hermeneutic is repetition, not addition or elaboration, for reading the previous discussion of the sweep concept in Newb's old thread. My understanding is that one stays on 'coarse' a lot. Even if there are...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Channel intact? check. Traverse intact? check Indicators humming along? check Volume increasing or unchanging? check That's the simplest sweep. 1 second, maybe. You should get this result for most of a traverse (10min+). In my operational framework, it's an or gate. This may or may not...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Dunnow. Jack says, "annotate traverses", so I annotate traverses. They seem to keep me focused. But so does writing out a 'sweep' narrative in longhand, in real time. Whatever cooks one's goose, i guess. --laz

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

    Question for those of you adept at sequencing: bar1: yesterday's final long traverse is dead. bar2: RTL of the CO long channel bar3: starts off a new[long] r2l traverse of the CO bar4: the traverse continues on declining volume (danger will robinson, danger) bar 5&6: a final pop for...
