    Catching the right train

Noodles, I don't think that you and fasterpussycat are one and the same as I would expect more from him. He usually offers some insights that come from experience, has a sense of humor and some intelligent things to say. Do you have any constructive input to add to this thread so that I might...

    Trading the NYSE intraday

The combination of information paints the most complete picture, especially on a thinner stock. Bid and ask size don't mean as much on a heavily traded stock, where only a small percentage of the days total volume will have been posted by the specialist. On a thinner stock one can often see...

    1x1 size on NYSE

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I primarily daytrade a rather thin stock and am getting to know the specialist, and I like his consistency. Therefore I thought I'd take a look at his other stocks, either to trade outright or for a possible pair. Swing (a misnomer, I'm actually...

    1x1 size on NYSE

Is the specialist who manages a given stock a matter of public record? I don't care about their names but can I find out, for instance, the specialist who has TXN, what other stocks are also at his post? I went to NYSE.com but was unable to find any specifics. Thanks. Swing

    Thanks from Don....

While you're in the hospital you'll be watching Maria on CNBC and posting to ET on your laptop! Events like this help us put our world into perspective. Best wishes Don. Let us know how it goes.

    Need to keep it simple

If we are making or can make $$ 'sticking to the basics' or by using a given trading technique, why do we feel the urge to try something new? For me there are three main reasons: First > the technique I'm currently using isn't working as well as it was. The effectiveness of certain...

    Bright Trading class

My notes are a bit sketchy but this is what I am expecting as a new trader. Once I am actually there I may have a more complete answer. When I arrive at the office I will have a New Trader Orientation meeting with the office manager. This will include a discussion or explanation of Bright's...

    Bright Trading class

Very succinct post, Atlanta! I may have met you in the class but I don't know who you are. Yes, a lot of emphasis was put on tape reading and trading with the Specialist. The best way to learn to read a specialist is to focus on one stock and watch it closely. We were advised...

    Bright Trading class

My day got off to a great start... I went to log on this morning and - surprise - no internet access. AT&T Broadband's phone recording, "We are experiencing connectivity problems in your area...". Up again in about an hour and a half. The last time they went down due to a local transformer...

    Bright Trading class

I attended Bright's week long day trading class in Las Vegas that ended on Friday, Feb 1st. It was held at their company headquarters and was taught by Bob and Don Bright and Earl Alstyne. From an earlier posting here (which I cannot find now!) I learned enough about the class content to...

    Datek's Servers

I trade with IB but usually use Datek for quotes as I prefer their format. If I log onto Datek before the market opens I don't have much trouble. From 0930 to 1130 ET it can be difficult, then later in the day it gets easier again. Probably has to do with traffic.

    Trader's Daily Routines?

El Cazador, Newbie here... I appreciate your post as I am becoming a strong believer that following a pre-market routine can be critical to our (day)trading success. And I have not as yet established one. But it is my next step towards becoming a serious trader. Several times this past week...
