Best broker and trading platform for E-mini?

What do you mean by "mess up"? I am in the same boat... my daytrading margin is still intact, and I'd like to keep it that way. I only today noticed that it wasn't listed on their margin reqs page anymore...

E-mini SP midcap 400 bid/ask spread becoming smaller

It seems to be fine for 1 or 2 contracts, anyway. I'm hoping it only gets better.

    Point and Figure

quotetracker also does a decent job for PnF charts. You can put bands and averages, etc. on them.

    Trading Chats

Maybe you would like wallstreak.com... it's generally pretty friendly and there are some profitable traders of a few styles there.

    Help executing an EOD system

I grab the NYSE and Nasdaq EOD data from eoddata.com for free every night. The data is available free at about 10pm Eastern, but you can get it at 6PM for $9.95 a month.

    Profitable oops

The example I like to keep in my head is: As the number of high-seas pirates have decreased over the years, the average temperature on earth has increased (care of http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/). Just because a relationship fits all known data without being hand-optimized...

which Java for IB TWS ?

yes and no... see, all versions since 1.2 have been "Java 2 Platform, version x". So, what I was trying to say before is: they are all "Java 2" since 1.2. It's kind of a meaningless term. Sun is finally trying to rectify this, because it causes such confusion...

which Java for IB TWS ?

I have always just used the most current version for my TWS plugins and have never had any problems. I believe every version of java since 1.2 has had the "java 2" brand name. They didn't keep it going and make 1.3 "java 3' so it's really become a meaningless term nowadays.

Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

Are you changing anything about your methodology in response to the failure this time? I mean, I assume the bot you just terminated passed its forward testing phase.... Maybe the criteria you use to determine that a bot is fit to run need to change?

Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

Until the bot trades better, it might be more prudent to make it prefer Ramen noodles. :-)

Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

I guess a person's choice really depends on their goal for the system. To maximize expected performance, all my tests agree with everyone else's tests that stops just get in the way. But, there are reasons a person might want stops, anyway. I can do tons of backtesting and verify that a...

Who Had A Tough Time Today?

I never seem to do well on these straight UP days. I think the setups I took today are about the same quality as other days, but they either didn't go anywhere, or they shook me out. I've never been concerned enough to try to figure out why this happens, because days like these are so rare.

    *reading The Tape*

People have different ideas about what it means to "read the tape." There's a very good thread elsewhere on ET where people claim you can only tape-read NYSE stocks, for instance. I don't use that narrow of a definition. I identify setups I'm wanting to trade using a combination of...

    Crames ratings in the WC.......

I'm skeptical about the way the story is presented. First, they focus entirely on the 6PM show, without mentioning the ratings of the other showing(s). Given that a lot of people like to be outside during the summer months, maybe more of them watch it at night OR tivo it (which I don't think...

    RSS Feeds?

I guess I was curious about getting a similar granularity to the email subscription options on the bottom of most pages. It's very "web2.0" to be able to get a feed of a certain user's posts. Or, to just subscribe to the psychology articles. Feeds let people aggregate and mix together content...

    RSS Feeds?

I track almost all of the websites I frequent via RSS feeds nowadays. It would be nice to have RSS options alongside the existing e-mail subscription options. They need not have the full text, so you can still force us to visit the site and "view" the ads...

    Calling all Scalpers !

I'm mainly an equities scalper and I'm also not sure what you are wanting to know. I do pay a lot of attention to the TICK and TRIN of the NYSE and Nasdaq, for what it's worth. But, since I am just trying to capture a few cents at a time, what matters most to me is the current bid/ask price...

    To forget a bad trade...?

Forgetting bad trades? I dunno... I'm holding out for a drug that can make me think the trades were actually good. :)

Frosty's trading bot goes live part 2

It's obviously not what you want to see when you turn your system on, but it's still only 12 days of data. Not enough to make decisions one way or the other IMO. I'm assuming the profit factor/expectancy observed in backtesting was good or the system would not be online now.
