wow, anyone catch that EUR/USD move?

Yes, it was a very big spike for that pair, at that time. That is what is so strange about it. There does not appear to be any news to account for it, and it happened during the Asian session. Some big JPY movements would be normal then, but EURUSD? It will be interesting to find out what...

wow, anyone catch that EUR/USD move?

It looked like just another EURUSD breakout, but the interesting thing about it was the timing. It happened during the Asian session, which is a bit unusual for this pair to make a big move. It looks like 75 pips up. The EURJPY spiked down at the same time the EURUSD spiked up. This might...

10 Pips Per Day - Everyday

Good point, and of course, you always short (sell) something to buy (long) something else. No argument there. My reply was intended to compare cash forex with futures and futures options.

10 Pips Per Day - Everyday

Exactly. That is probably one of the biggest differences between forex and the other markets. Since your positions are always involving a pair, you are always long one, and short the other. The currency futures and options are all USD based, so they are all reversed, as in your example with...

10 Pips Per Day - Everyday

I am glad to hear that I am not the only crazy one who likes medium to long term swing/position trades, to capture as much of those huge moves as possible. I know exactly what you mean by having the stomach to let it take its time... It can be gut wrenching. That's where hedging pays off, but...

Swiss is one of several good options. I'll pass on the Russian ones. They seem to be too much like Russian roulette. :p

    A non-US or non-UK broker is nice too. :)

So you are saying that leverage is actually the main cause of failure. It is true that leverage will magnify losses, but it certainly does not cause the losses. Account profit and loss is affected by leverage, not the system performance. These are 2 different things. The system performance...

    Given Up?

That is good news. IB had a very limited selection of pairs before. For that reason, plus since they do not support hedging, I am trading forex through another broker. Now if they start to support hedging, I would not need my other forex account. Until then, I don't trade forex much on IB.

    Given Up?

OK. I have an advisor and client account with the 5k minimum. That was what I was thinking of. Since they are universal accounts for stocks, options, futures, etc. that must be the reason for the 10k minimum.

I just checked again, and you are right. They must have recently made that pair available through Idealpro. I know for sure it was only available through Ideal before. Maybe they have added some other pairs now also, that they did not have before?

The trader is at fault if and only if they constantly change their systems and/or manually intervene with the positions. If they do not do these things, then the trader has no part of the system performance at all. Which is how it is supposed to be. Yes, system drawdowns do not get the same...

Exactly. Check this out. I can't believe he admits it in public, but my hat is off to him for doing that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOGLvxqAk4A&feature=related I am sure it is only a tiny sampling of what is going on... Also check out the many other "market manipulation" videos there.

I agree that traders have a small part in the success or failure of systems, just as the brokers do also. However, the systems themselves have the largest part. After all, the systems are doing all of the trading, not the trader. I don't understand your hypothetical question. Please explain.

BulldogFX is a MM broker, so I don't see how you could trade through them to IB. You might be thinking of Trade Bullet. I think if you have that software, you can trade from C2 to IB. Are you sure 10k is the minimum for a forex account on IB? I am pretty sure it is much less. If memory...

As you have probably noticed, there is not much traffic here under the Autotrading thread. If I remember correctly, there was much more on the C2 and FXDD forums. It seems that autotrading sites like C2 and FXDD are losing popularity. I suspect it might be because many more people are...

    Given Up?

Yes, since IB does not support hedging, that is another major negative for them. Along with their horrible platform, but at least I have a solution for the platform. Also, they do not carry many cross pairs that other brokers do, such as NZD/JPY, which is one of my favorites for the carry...

    Given Up?

That is what I found too. It looks like the only way to autotrade with IB, or any other ECN, is to autotrade your own system(s). I found an API bridge that connects MT4, Trade Station and many other platforms to the IB TWS platform. Allowing you to use those other platforms with IB. That...

    Given Up?

I don't know anyone who has made consistent, LONG TERM profits with autotrading forex. Especially in a market maker account. It could be due to what you said, changing systems too much, or risking too much. I do know that the market makers are also a major factor working against you...

    No Longer A Bastard

Him trying to get citizenship for his girlfriend with a setup marriage is a very common thing in all countries. Of course, it is illegal, but that doesn't stop people from doing it. Sometimes it is their only option. I am living in Panama, and I know several Americans here who got their...
