    Dont know where to start

I've tried US Stocks, Japanese futures and FOREX and failed at all. However, people on this board seem to think stocks is the most realistic way to make money because there are thousands to choose from.

Why has MSFT price not gone up much in last 10 years?

The 10-year AAPL charts looks the opposite of MSFT/WalMart. It's is pure growth. Obviously, they had a bunch of new products and a ton of hype, being Apple and all.

Why has MSFT price not gone up much in last 10 years?

Yes. I imagine there are a lot of stocks out there like that. I looked at another blue chip, GE, and its stock price over the last decade looked remarkable like its profit curve.

You want to know what, what to start trading?

Why has MSFT price not gone up much in last 10 years?

Yeah, I would have just expected it to be a steady upswing with some dips, not the erratic up-and-down that the decade charts looks like. Cutten is right, I guess, crazy over-expectations. What purpose do the expectation-setters serve?

Why has MSFT price not gone up much in last 10 years?

I'm looking at the price of MSFT for the last 1o years, it has moved up and now over that period, but it was around 26 10 years ago and now is at 30.82. I looked at their profit on wolfram alpha http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=microsoft+quarterly+profit see chart at bottom Their...

Hedge Fund Trio Claim $254MM Lotto

Is it really better for them to take the lump sum? Is it realistic for them to make $150 million from the $104 million lump sum over 20 years?

Grinding it out, day after day

You probably answered this question somewhere in this thread, but I'll ask anyway: what do you use to calculate volatility of a stock? A specific indicator?

    The case against college

I majored in business, then took 7 weeks of computer classes and went directly into a computer job. Most of the stuff you learn in college you forget, anyway. It's a waste of money. They should shorten it for most professions, but, unfortunately, companies love to see a degree on your resume.

    Zero Sum Theory.

Joe gave Bob $1, so Bob is +$1 and Joe is -$1 = zero sum Becky gave Joe $2, so Becky is -$2 and Joe is +2 = zero sum Am I missing something?

Was anyone here trading in the late 90s?

I attempted to trade stocks back then. Used MB Trader (It was called something like that). I had to pay $250 a month in fees. Didn't have any success, but I was trading from work. Yeah, I know. I remember I made $800 in like 10 minutes in one trade and was on top of the world. Lost it just...

If you apply to 759 jobs and get 0 is it you or the jobmarket?

Can't speak for other industries, but I can say for a FACT that if you have IT experience, the job market in the city I live in is crazy right now. I get at least one call/email a day from a recruiter looking for IT people.

    Question about bailouts

I believe that many of the banks have already paid back the TARP money: http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20090617/FREE/906179993 This still doesn't explain why cutting out money-losing part of businesses and saving the money-making ones (say for example, cutting out money-losing car...

    Question about bailouts

Can you explain this in more detail? What difference does it make if there was no legal precedent? If it will work, then it will work and so should be tried, imo.

Any one of you geniuses want to take this one on? Thanks.

    Question about bailouts

From what I understand, a lot of these failed companies that the government bailed out offered multiple services or products. Usually, it was one or a few services/products that brought the entire company down (like AIG for example) while other services/products that were provided by that...

    Why 99,9% fail

I failed at trading mainly because I could never find a way to read any pattern in price movements that would consistently make money. I tried stocks, FX and Japanese e-mini's, but nothing worked for me. One thing is that there was no way I was going to quit my job to trade, so I needed...

    Why aren't republicans supporting Plexico?

Second Amendment rights don't apply when you're on private property, unless the owner of that property says you can carry a gun on their property. As far as I know, clubs don't want people bringing guns inside, which is why many clubs frisk people who enter. A 2-year sentence for this guy...
