Hi, Can someone tell me about their experience with Interactive brokers' Android application for trading ? Thanks.

I am currently using TOS and have never used IB. I would like to know if there are any reasons why TOS is better than IB. Pricewise, considering the costs of commissions and data feed, which one is cheaper ? Thanks very much.

Is it that easy to get your rates reduced with TOS ? When I called them, they told me that you have to have a certain amount of minimum trades to get the rate reduced. What do you mean when you say 'tell them you are a bad ass trader.'

Why do you feel it is the wrong field and also what is wrong with the current time ? I don't think there will ever be a guarantee of a success in trading.

Why do you think it's the wrong part of the decade to be a "career switcher" ? I am assuming that finding a job as a trader is always going to be very difficult regardless of the economy.

Exactly. How do you protect the screen from your coworkers ? I mean, if someone walks up to your desk and you have a screen with charts, how do you hide it ?

That's great timing. Would your strategy work if you had to trade at the same time you work ? In other words, is the strategy more suitable for day trading or swing trading ? Have you considered trading in a prop firm environment ?

Do you know if they usually only prefer recent graduates for entry-level trading/Market making ? I have an excellent quantitative background, but I have not been called for an interview yet. Considering the fact that they get so many resumes, is there a way to stand yourself apart ? Thanks.

Most of the firms, including First NY, usually look for profitable track record, more than your school or grades. Do you think that you were not allowed to hold positions overnight was the main reason you did not do well in your prior prop firm ?

Isn't it true that most of the institutional or prop firms trade very differently from at home traders ? For instance, I have been very successful swing trading for few years now, but most of the trading firms would probably not let me hold positions overnight... so that could become a factor.

What do you think of the prop firms that gives you training, pays you a small salary and provides firm's capital for you to trade ? I know there are very few firms that are like that. However, they do seem legitimate on the surface.

The decision to switch becomes easier especially if you don't like your current job. I mean, how much can you regret leaving a job that you are not happy with in the first place ?

Although, you have a good point, I think it is worth taking the risk. On the flip side, in 10 or 20 years from now, if you keep working that safe job where you are not happy, you might wonder what if you had tried trading. In hindsight, it will be very clear what you should have done...
