I think he's highlighting where orders are "below bid" or "above ask." So far today I've seen 0 predictive power to these conditions, if anything there's been a negative correlation. I'll see a string of "above asks" followed by a brisk take-down. Or a hodge-podge of "above asks" with "below...

There's a lot of theories on how to adjust ICs. I personally don't trade them much. I guess it depends on when you'd do the adjusting though. If you are making pre-earnings adjustments, like buying more puts, the risk of course is that you'd be paying top dollar and it would eat into your IC...

I wouldn't say that I'm neutral...I would sell you that strangle and just hedge with an out-month. I just think that if you are set on going long a strangle, it's probably easier to play it on volatility than on direction, in which case you'd get out before earnings.

Good luck beating the IV crash...not saying it can't happen though.

Just like with the OP's DD, you probably won't be able to short any IC and cover before earnings with a profit...any theta decay will most likely be offset by an IV increase. If you really wanted to run a trade from now and close pre-earnings, you'd probably be better off just going long vega...
