Anyone not making 200k a year from trading is a piker

I guess we just have different interpretations of what an edge is. I consider Vegas to have an edge, I don't consider Ricky the retail trader looking at pin bars as having an edge, I consider that a strategy, which coupled with money management can become profitable.

Anyone not making 200k a year from trading is a piker

How is price action an edge if everyone can see the same thing? Front running orders is an edge, reading price action is a strategy.

Anyone not making 200k a year from trading is a piker

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I better understand the point you are making now. I live below my means and save quite a bit (the same I would do in any occupation) which takes care of the volatile times I do encounter. The problem that I see frequently is that people think they have...

Anyone not making 200k a year from trading is a piker

I'm curious how you interpret this as being a good benchmark, because I see it as more baseless theory that gets tossed around on forums. But I am curious as to how you are looking at it, maybe I'm misunderstanding your point. If I make 60/hr in the corporate world but I average 100/hr...

Anyone not making 200k a year from trading is a piker

I don't make anywhere near 200k, call me a piker if you like, my life is incredibly awesome. I think people who sit at a desk for 12 hours a day with 6 monitors, spending countless hours on development and backtesting are pikers. Then they come to EliteTrader and have a contest about who's...

What does it mean to "move stop to break even"

Break even means neither profit nor loss, so you would move your stop to your entry point.

Moving to singapore or dubai for trading

This isn't necessarily true. Although some areas have sketchy internet and electricity, you don't have to stay outside of the main cities. If you're in a city your internet/electricity will be comparable to the US. I have battled these issues in the past but that's when I'm outside of the...

Moving to singapore or dubai for trading

I trade the opens so yes, part of my day is night trading. Where I am now the US open is 9:30pm, so I'm usually trading from 9:30pm to midnight. But you can also trade the Euro or Asian market if you want better hours.

Moving to singapore or dubai for trading

I trade and travel simultaneously, basically on tourist visa's that last anywhere from 3 months to a year that you can get at any embassy or consulate for a small fee. If you need longer visas you'll most likely have to set up a business in the country, sign up to a language school or just do...

    The ACD Method

That makes sense, thank you. I have been using my own OR (and CR) time based on the volume of 5 min bars which means my range sizes and A/C levels change daily. A little different than his approach but it sounds like our reasoning is fairly well aligned.

    The ACD Method

Has it ever been mentioned what the opening range time length is based on? I know the A/C levels are based on a percentage of the ATR of the OR, but I've never been clear on how he came up with 15, 30 or 45 minute range sizes - or why he starts the opening range well before the open on some...

    EUREX ping times.

To the Singapore hub I'm getting 22ms in Penang, Malaysia and it's a little over 30ms when I'm in Phuket, Thailand. Ping times to Germany are considerably worse.

Should Strategy Work Across All Instruments

In my experience, most of the strategies I've developed generally work with most products but I do have to adjust for volatility and then decide if it's worth pursuing based on risk. Sometimes the volatility is so low that it doesn't make the trade worth it and sometimes the volatility is so...

    BUND Traders-Serious!!!

You're lucky. My ping in Patong, Phuket is always over 100ms. I'm in Penang, Malaysia right now and it's over 300ms. I don't scalp primarily for this reason and have changed to trades that last a few hours. Mainly in Buxl though, Bund maybe 30% of the time when the entries are better.

Looking for Propex and Singapore prop trading advice

That's what I figured, that they are looking for a higher frequency of trades. This is my main reason in looking for a firm that also provides training so I can adjust. My one trade a day style is because I adapted it to my location and lifestyle. Traveling throughout South East Asia my...

Looking for Propex and Singapore prop trading advice

I’m interested in joining a prop firm in Singapore and am looking for any tips or advice from those familiar with the firms there. I’m from the US but I am currently a traveling full-time trader so I have no permanent residence. I’m in Malaysia as I’m writing this but the majority...

Trading off of the FIRST FIVE MINUTE BAR?!?! Newbie Trader Question

I only place my trades within the first hour of the market open however 60% of my trades are placed at the close of the first 5 minute bar. I currently only trade CL, NG and YM but my product list does change periodically. I never have a problem with fills and I only use stop limit orders for...

Need advice on laptops for trading

All my trading is performed from a laptop and I've owned both VAIO's and Dell's. From my experience Dell is better quality and their support is much better. VAIO's usually look sleeker but I always have issues with them. Either way, you won't go wrong with the higher end VAIO or Dell's XPS...

TopstepTrader and Patak Trading Partners- Any and all questions answered here

I signed up for the combine but won't be keeping a journal here on ET. For me it's an opportunity that I most likely wouldn't get elsewhere so I took advantage of it. I signed up for the trial first, which I would recommend to anyone who is interested, I liked what they offered and decided...
