    IB Tradestation Alternatives

Agree that IB is extremely convoluted and non-user-friendly I'm not familiar with CyberTrader, but I have experience with two terrific front-ends to use with IB: NinjaTrader and BracketTrader. http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/index.htm http://www.bracket-trader.com/home.html I...

    Is it worth it??

Agree NinjaTrader is great and completely free in simulation. BracketTrader ($100 flat fee shareware) has essentially equivalent functionality, although it is strictly for IB and their feed has poorer performance. http://www.bracket-trader.com/features.html Uses very little screen real...

Ninja Demos available at: Mirus Futures -- good company, also uses Dorman I think: http://www.mirusfutures.com/ AMP Futures -- but they are essentially a one-man introducing broker for Dorman: http://www.ampfutures.com/ You could contact NinjaTrader to ask if there are any others.

what kind of computer for trading?

These two questions are completely unrelated. The reason your question isn't being answered (in a fashion a newbie can comprehend), is that the answer depends of what kind of a trader you turn into. For example, if you watch for setups in multiple markets real-time, you will want more...

    trailing stop vs. take profit

In fact, both of the strategies suggested above are excellent. And both are easily possible using execution programs that allow for it: NinjaTrader, Infinity AT, Transact AT, and probably others. Edit: And can be used in with either automated programs or discretionary-entry systems.

How much do you pay in commission for ES?

I think the more pertinent question is: How much do you pay without requirements for volume or account size? I pay $4.82/RT in one such account. I pay $4.50/RT in another such account.

Books that have influenced you the most

Maybe not the one that has had the most influence, but certainly a good one to read: Zen and the Art of Poker, by Larry Phillips ISBN-10: 0452281261 There are innumerable parallels between poker and trading (as there are between sports and trading). For a superb analysis, see Brett...
