    Can investors unload unlimited stocks?

Is there a SEC rule that limits big investors how much stocks they can sell at once? I read somewhere (can't find the source now), that mutual fund, hedge fund managers, big investors have to unload their shares gradually and not at once. Is there a written rule like that or is it just that they...

    Averaging down on housing

I just bought 100 shares of XHB (Homebuilder spider) and will continue buying dips ONLY. No matter if XHB starts going up or down. I will only buy dips. This is a multi year trade, so it is for a long run. I will keep posting results here. 1) 07-26-2007 Bought 100 shares @26.72 Closing...

Major bearish TA signal on S&P500 today

I don't know about that. I think it;s just the opposite. Just look at the volume and compare. One reason I think is globalization and investors going overseas.

Major bearish TA signal on S&P500 today

Take a look at this. Looks like a resistance line established back in 2000 held today and market is ready to go down. Look how it bounces off the resistance line at 1560 and its start heading down. This is I think major psychological barrier which market will have a hard time going through...

    Averaging down on housing

Interesting point, butI don't think you can compare nasdaq bubble with housing and vica versa. Some markets recover quicker then others.

    Averaging down on housing

Thanks for the replies. It is not as bad as you think. Lets follow Ryan Johns example from his money management book. Also, see bold at the bottom. The simplest definition to cost averaging is to add onto a losing position. There are exceptions, but this is the most common use of the...

    Averaging down on housing

But thats the whole point of averaging down, so you don't miss the bottom. If you wait you could miss very significant rally since biggest moves come right after bottom or at the top. And, yes this would be for the long term. At least 2 years.

    Averaging down on housing

I know lot of people shiver when they hear averaging down, but what do you all think using average down on housing index right now? That way you won't miss bottom. I know averaging down on individual stocks is a bad idea but for index should be pretty safe bet since it is very unlikley that...

    Forget about diversification

I have my 401k for retirement and account with tradeking for investing/trading. I also think that international markets are more and more corelated and owning just one or two funds would get you as diversify as it gets (stock wise). I agree that you need to hold some of the inverted funds...

    Forget about diversification

I want to hear what others are thinking about this. I am changing my tactics from diversification to buying only one ETF and running with it. Look at the attached file. You have USA, Europe, Latin America and Asia broad markets in there. You will notice that they all follow same pattern...

Beating the Market with Money managment

I just wanted to add aboput Averaging Down. Not really a MM but it is its close cousin. Averaging down to me seems like a good idea for indexes or overall market since they will recover sooner or later, but not for individual stocks. For example: People who were just buy/hold SPY or QQQQ...

Beating the Market with Money managment

Neet, Thanks for the great advices. You said that some of the stocks will do 3% in a day and I see lot of them do that (even blue chips), So you think I should maybe up my 3% gain cap along with 1.25% loss cap so I don't get stopped during the day? What would be in your opinion be most...
