Warning MB TRADING filled my limit order wrong plce

Has my beer gone to my head? Wouldn't you prefer a sell limit to fill at 84 instead of 70? Did you mean to submit a stop loss instead?

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

It was helpful to me the night I started it because the fact that it was regional and ISP-specific indicated it was a problem with my ISP. I could go to Comcast and tell them they had a problem, and give them evidence. Otherwise they would have just continued to tell me to contact the website...

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

For me it started Friday after market close. I hadn't checked again until your post, and I can't get in either (Comcast, MD). I just assumed they were doing maintenance or something. Please let me know what you find out.

    TOS connection problem

Are you using Comcast as your ISP? I had problems connecting with Open E Cry; my wife with her law firm network. See the thread I started earlier tonight. The latest is that Comcast is having problems with their switches. Good luck.

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

Ha -- my wife could not access her account at work. Her IT tech told her there was no problem with their computers. Eerily familiar... She calls Comcast, and now they admit they are having problems with their switches. Maybe that the rebooting solved my problem was a coinkidink. Now I...

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

Electric -- What did you do? It's working again! Yea! Seriously, I did this twice -- it's practically a requirement to even get a tech to talk to you. No, thrice because the OEC tech asked me to do it too. It worked this time. Thanks! ps No open positions, thank god! Was...

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

Done and done. Plus reboot the computer. Seriously, it is 4 people within the Comcast system, so its not computer- or modem-specific.

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

Called OEC twice. They say they have 200 traders on the system with no problems. I've got 4 different people on two different ISP systems who cannot access it. I'm stuck in the middle with no access to my account. Edit: They are really fantastic. I've been so happy with them. I suspect...

Help! Is anyone having trouble accessing OpenECry?

Starting from about 5 pm ET tonight, I have been unable to connect. OEC says it's my ISP, which is Comcast. Comcast says it's OEC. None of the Comcast technicians can access the site either. I have no problems accessing any other website. If you do not mind, would you try to access their...

    Bond Yield and Bond Futures

Hah! One could spend an entire college semester studying the relation between bond yields and futures prices. There is not generally a 1:1 relation between prices and yields -- instead the change in the price is connected to the change in the yield by a measure of duration. Duration for...

    Does anybody own a ferrari?

I know a very good race car driver who has both a Ferrari 360 Modena and a Porsche 911 GT3 (along with a few other "very special cars"). I asked him his impression of the difference in the two cars. His reply: The Ferrari is like the wife, and the Porsche like the mistress. The Ferrari...

    My First Investopedia.com Article!

The example/article is about leverage. You can use the leverage to replace cash invested in stocks with cash invested in T-bills at no added risk. But if there is no added risk, there is no added return.

    My First Investopedia.com Article!

Today's fair value premium depends on today's interest rates and today's dividend yield. Your hypothetical example uses a T-bill rate of 10% to compute the return. The fair value premium would be different if interest rates were really 10%. You are comparing apples and oranges. The...

    My First Investopedia.com Article!

The problem is the entire point of the article -- that one can earn "alpha" by substituting futures for stocks and earning interest on the difference in the amount invested -- crucially depends on the absence of carry cost. Any "alpha" in the strategy you suggest would be eaten up by the carry...

    My First Investopedia.com Article!

Just read your article. A couple of points you might want to consider. First, a 15% increase in the S&P does not obviously produce a 15% gain on the corresponding futures. The futures contract has carry cost, which will reduce the gain on futures. In fact, if one uses a one-year time...

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

[B] Not really -- essentially, the paper provides a method of determining the hedging cost for an institution who issues an option (or other derivative) and who must hedge it with a fixed bound on "gamma" given Black-Scholes-like assumptions about an asset price. (The gamma they bound is...
