    wheat

I don't think the wheat market is dangerous per se. It's just that wheat prices are currently at a high level, which is why it is more volatile. This applies to any market. When it is trading actively at a high level, it tends to be more volatile. My take on the wheat market (Jul 07...

    cbot vs ecbot

For me, I need to focus on only one - based on your feedback, looks like ecbot has the higher volume. Also, I guess in the long run, the floor based cbot would be phased out - as has happened in so many other exchanges. So from now on, it's just the ecbot for me.

    cbot vs ecbot

I'm trading wheat on the ecbot. The same product is traded on the cbot (floor based) and ecbot (electronic). I watch the opening range, high/low figures closely, but there are 2 different sets of number. Which is more "dominant" cbot or ecbot ?

Are contracts on the open auction and electronics interchangeable ? That is, can i open a position on one and close the position on the other ?

    Advice on trading wheat

For analysis, I would still prefer a single contract (leaning towards Jul). However, I do agree with your point about using that to trade the front month - they don't always correlate well. Since the different contracts do not always move the same way, I don't feel comfortable using multiple...

    Advice on trading wheat

I guess I'm looking at the single month continuous contract - like the one found in scarrtrading website. I believe that there is more consistency in using a single month contract, that is over a long term period. That is more for analysis. I understand that when it comes to trading, it may...

    Advice on trading wheat

thanks for replies. I'm still looking thru the various contracts. Because I want to plot long term graphs, I'd prefer to use only 1 contract. Seems to me that the Z (dec) contract has the most volume over the contract life. Trading wise, I may trade different contracts, but I cannot be...

    Advice on trading wheat

I'm new to trading Ag. Plan to trade wheat on cbot. Can anybody advise on the following: 1) Is it better to trade on open auction or electronically ? (I trade thru IB) 2) I am hoping to just focus on one contract month (at the most 2). Which contracts are the most liquid and tradeable ?

Thanks for your response. I do have futuresource, but I don't think the volume is included. Are there other sources available ?

    cbot daily data - wheat

Can anyone advise where I can obtain the daily open/hi/lo/close/vol data for wheat futures - say for the past 1 month ? Does cbot maintain such data ? I could only see the previous day's data.

    Trading wheat

I'm thinking of trading in wheat futures. Would appreciate if anyone can advise regarding the following: 1. Should I trade through Cbot? (I'm trading through IB). 2. Are the contracts traded throughout the whole year, or are they like the indexes which expires every month/quarter. 3...
